I Struggle with Technology: Can Telehealth Work for Me?

In 2024 alone, 116 million people utilized telehealth services. Most people use telehealth for prescription refills and for minor illnesses. Telehealth isn’t limited to these uses, though. You can also benefit from women’s health care at the touch of a button.
If you’re not tech-savvy, the idea of a virtual doctor’s appointment might seem overwhelming. But telehealth is designed to be simple and user-friendly — even for those who don’t consider themselves tech experts.
At Westover Hills Women's Health, we’ve designed our telehealth system to be simple, secure, and easy to use — even if you’re not tech-savvy.
Read on as our team of board-certified OB/GYNs and midwives shares all the details.
What is telehealth?
Telehealth lets you meet with your Westover Hills Women's Health provider virtually using a secure video platform. It’s a convenient way to get high-quality medical care from the comfort of your home — no office visit required.
Virtual care, no matter where you are
About 54% of Americans have had at least one telehealth visit, and there’s a reason so many return to it: It’s convenient. You don’t have to be near our office to use telehealth.
Whether you live across town, are in another city, or are traveling out of state for work or vacation, you can still meet with us and get the care you need.
Secure two-way calls
Our telehealth platform is HIPAA-compliant, which means your personal health information is protected. Only you and your provider can access your session.
Step-by-step guide to make a telehealth appointment
To schedule a virtual appointment, please visit our Contact Us page and click “Book Now.”
Review the virtual visit options
The booking page automatically opens a pop-up to schedule your appointment. It’s set to show the in-person appointment options, so you need to switch to the “Virtual Visit” tab to see available telehealth options.
Choose your provider and day/time
Once you're on the Virtual Visit tab, you can choose your provider and a date/time that works for you. Look for the purple “virtual” tag next to the appointment — that’s how you’ll know you’re booking a telehealth visit.
Receive your calendar invite
Once you schedule your appointment, you get a calendar invite with a link to register and complete forms online. You can even upload your ID and insurance cards before your appointment.
Click your link when it’s time for your appointment
On the day of your visit, just click the link to join a video call with your provider. It’s a lot like using FaceTime or Zoom, but it’s private, secure, and HIPAA-compliant.
Tips for making the most out of your telehealth session
You can make the most of your telehealth visit with these simple steps:
Choose a quiet, private space
Set up in a room where you won’t be disturbed. If you have a barking dog or active kids, try to keep them out of the room during your appointment.
Make sure your device is ready
Use a smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera and microphone. Plug it in or charge it fully before your visit.
Check your internet connection
A strong Wi-Fi signal helps prevent lag or frozen screens during your call.
Use good lighting
Sit near a window or lamp so your provider can see you clearly. Avoid sitting with a bright light or window behind you.
Have your questions ready
Write down any concerns or symptoms you want to talk about so you don’t forget.
Keep your health information close
Have your list of medications, allergies, and recent health changes nearby in case your provider asks.
Be on time
Log in a few minutes early to make sure everything works and to start your visit stress-free.
Who should use telehealth for women’s health?
With telehealth, you can:
- Talk to your OB/GYN face-to-face via video
- Share your symptoms through chat or photos
- Update your medical history
- Get prescriptions sent to your pharmacy
- Pay your bill securely online
Obviously, certain types of visits don’t benefit from telehealth. For example, if you’re pregnant, you’ll need to attend your prenatal exams in person so we can take vitals, measure your growing belly, and listen to your baby’s heartbeat with the Doppler.

These small steps help your appointment go smoothly and help you feel more confident using telehealth.
Even if technology isn’t your thing, we’re here to guide you every step of the way. Don’t let tech worries keep you from getting the care you need. Telehealth is safe, easy, and built for you.
